Muricea elongata - Orange Spiny Eco Gorg - Stock Specimen - The Ornage Muricea is a rare beauty, seldom encountered in the hobby. It's not particularly demanding, and can adapt to a wide range of lighting conditions. It does prefer significan flow, however. The colony gorws very bushy, with thin branches and small polyps. The gorgonian tissue is a true orange, making it really stand out in the aquarium! And excellent choice for the novice Gorgonian collector.

HUSBANDRY NOTES: We keep these Gorgonians under Kessill A350 LED lights (around 22" over the water surface), or T5 flourescents (skewed towards blue) and they grow very well. As with all gorgonians, make sure that they do not come into contact with other species, as they may be agressive towards each other.

NOTE:  You will be purchasing a Gorgonian similar to the one in the photo. Because we spend less time photographing and uploading "stock" items, we pass the savings on to you! If they are on the site, they're always ready to ship!

Details

Gorgonians are some of the most fascinating animals in the worlds' oceans, and are rapidly gaining in popularity. Unique Corals is pleased to offer Eco Gorgs from Coral Morphologic, a partnership of Colin Foord and Jared McKay, in Overton, Florida. These unique animals are sustainably harvested by selectively trimming branches from large, adult colonies, and then grown out in CM's greenhouse on conventional coral frag plugs. The adult colonies quickly regrow their branches, resulting in a zero impact coral reef fishery. When you purchase an Eco Gorg from us, you're making a powerful statement about supporting a sustainable marine livestock trade. These hardy, photosynthetic gorgonians will open up a captivating new avenue for reef hobbyists everywhere!
