WIO - Darwin Black Lava Stone

$995

WIO Darwin Black Lava Stone

Built for natural-looking hardscape

The beauty of Darwin Black Lava is in its texture. Natural volcanic crevices and uneven surfaces create shadows and highlights throughout the layout, making the hardscape feel more complex and established.

Use larger pieces as the structural foundation of an aquascape, then use smaller stones to fill gaps, build transitions and create a more natural sense of scale.

It also pairs exceptionally well with driftwood, making it a strong choice for Ryoboku-style layouts where dark rock and wood work together to create a bold, nature-inspired composition.

A surface plants can use

Darwin Black Lava is highly porous, giving beneficial bacteria plenty of surface area for colonisation. Its textured surface also provides excellent attachment points for mosses, ferns and other epiphytic plants.

Over time, plants can become integrated into the stone rather than simply sitting around it, helping the hardscape develop a more natural appearance.

From nano tanks to large layouts

Darwin Black Lava is available in individual pieces as well as smaller nano bags and larger box sets, making it easy to scale the stone to your aquarium.

The stone ranges from approximately 1–12 inches (2.5–30 cm) depending on the selected format, allowing it to work as everything from detailed nano-tank hardscape to the major structural rock in larger aquariums.

Simple, predictable and inert

Darwin Black Lava is an igneous volcanic rock and is inert in the aquarium. It does not harden water or alter pH, making it a straightforward hardscape choice when you want to control your water chemistry independently of your stone.

Darwin Black Lava is the stone to build around — dark, rugged, porous and incredibly versatile.
