Pax Bellum and STAX featured in ReefBuilders Best of 2017

In the past, we have had Triton featured as one of their best, as you remember, Unique is the first to bring Triton into the US.

We are happy to see another two products that's near and dear to our hearts featured!

The Pax Bellum, and the STAX (by Two Little Fishes in collaboration with MarcoRocks)!

Joe got involved with Pax Bellum very early on, instantly recognizing its potential in this hobby.  We are very excited to see Pax get the recognition it deserves.  Stay tuned to UniqueCorals.com to see what else they have coming on line!

STAX was the brain child of Julian Sprung of Two Little Fishes.  In collaboration with MarcoRocks, this brand new product is perfect for small to medium sized tanks and is so versatile, our customers are raving about it.

Koji Wada Pink Nepthea

Koji Wada Pink Nepthea

Several years ago, I had a visit from a good aquarium friend- Koji Wada.  Koji, owner of Blue Harbor Aquariums in Japan is probably best known for his love and dealings in uber rare fish.  After chatting with him in our UniqueCorals.com facility, he reached into his suitcase and pulled out a small bag with a little purple blob in it.  In broken English, he described this special coral.  From that day on, my obsession for the Koji Wada Pink Nepthea had begun.

This leather coral actually begs for more light.  We tell people to treat it like they would an Acropora.  Lots of light, flow, clean water.  It will reward you with rapid growth, a thick, lush branching morphology that loves to sway in the current.  To frag it, simply cut off small branches with a clean scissor, place them in a container containing coral rubble and leave somewhere in the tank with very low flow.  Within a few days the frags will attach to the coral bones and then that rock can be easily glued to a frag plug or rock within the tank.

More UC Lore

More UC Lore

Someone asked "O I thought Unique Corals was around for a lot more than just four years!"

Which is true!

Here's a bit more background.

Unique Corals was the brain child of Joseph Caparatta.  At the time he was living in New York city and operating Manhattan Aquariums retail store, which is located at 522 W 37th st on the Westside.  As online shopping was gaining popularity, Joe thought it would be great to branch out and reach more customers through this platform - and UniqueCorals Inc. was born.

Los Angeles is the hub for coral important and exchange activity.  Joe always wanted to move to a sunny locale, so why not marry the two passions and start a facility in LA?  Joe formally started building out the 6000sf facility in 2011 to the highest standards, and as they say, the rest was history.

So, if you happen across an old logo or banner of Unique Corals from 10 years ago, you are looking at a piece of history!
