Koji Wada Pink Nepthea

Koji Wada Pink Nepthea

Several years ago, I had a visit from a good aquarium friend- Koji Wada.  Koji, owner of Blue Harbor Aquariums in Japan is probably best known for his love and dealings in uber rare fish.  After chatting with him in our UniqueCorals.com facility, he reached into his suitcase and pulled out a small bag with a little purple blob in it.  In broken English, he described this special coral.  From that day on, my obsession for the Koji Wada Pink Nepthea had begun.

This leather coral actually begs for more light.  We tell people to treat it like they would an Acropora.  Lots of light, flow, clean water.  It will reward you with rapid growth, a thick, lush branching morphology that loves to sway in the current.  To frag it, simply cut off small branches with a clean scissor, place them in a container containing coral rubble and leave somewhere in the tank with very low flow.  Within a few days the frags will attach to the coral bones and then that rock can be easily glued to a frag plug or rock within the tank.
